Learn to Recognize a Good Wine: In this class you will learn the basic steps for recognizing a good wine. This will be illustrated with one example, followed by six more wines you will taste and classify as poor, acceptable, good, very good or outstanding.
Find Your Favorite Wine: So you like wine but do not know why. In this course I will guide you on the right way to taste, recognize and catalog wines. In this class I will introduce the eight primary grapes and will end the class with a list of well-known wines from around the world for these eight grapes.
Wine Pairing with Food: In this class you will learn the basics about pairing wines with food. If you like, you can provide a menu one week in advance and I can pair specific wines. (P)
The Heavy Lifters: This class is for people who like wines with high tannins and medium to high body. You will learn about Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux Blend, Malbec, Nebbiolo, Nero D’Avola, and Syrah. (P)
Light and Medium Wines: Learn about fun wines with great flavors that will not make your mouth dry or rough. You will learn about Pinot Noir, Gamay, Burgundy, Barbera, Sangiovese and Montelpucino. (P)
Dry Whites: This class is for people who like white wines that are not sweet and want to learn their various options. You will learn about Alabarinos, Pinot Gris, Vouvray, Soave, Chardonnay, Chablis and Gavi. (P)
Aromatic and Sweet Wines: This class covers white wines with intense aromas of flowers and fruit, from dry to sweet. You will learn about Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraiminer, Riesling, Torrentes and the "Noble Rot" process. (P)
Bubbles: This class will introduce you to the different wine-making processes and tastes of Champagne, Cava, Prosecco, Cremant, Asti and other sparkling wines. (P)
Rosé for Me: You will learn about the different methods to create rosé wines and will try different rosé wines of the world including some sparkling. (P)
French Wines: You will learn about the primary regions of Bourdeux, Burgundy, the Rhone Valley and the Loire Valley and the types of wine that come from each. (P)
Italian Wines: You will learn about the difference between Classico and Reserva classifications and about the best known wines of Italy: Nero D’ Avola, Super Tuscan, Nebbiolo, Barbaresco, Sangiovese, Soave, Gavi, plus the Amorone method. (P)
American Wines: Learn about California (North Coast, Central Coast and Central Valley), Oregon, Washington State and New York State varieties. (P)
New World: Learn about wines of Argentina, Canada, Mexico, and Chile. (P)
Old World: Learn about the wines of Spain, Germany and Portugal. (P)
Rest of the World: Learn about wines of South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. (P)
Favorite Wines of Famous People: In this class we will bring you the wines that famous people liked to drink, such as the Claret favored by Winston Churchill.
